I have been a Registered nurse (RN) for almost 30 years. This
profession has been a blessing in my life. There are many nursing programs
available, such as LPN, RN, LPN to RN bridge programs, associate degree
programs, bachelors, masters programs, doctoral, the list seems endless. These
days you can do your practicum at a hospital and much of your coursework can be
completed on-line. The on-line options, weekend classes and evening classes
allow us to work and attend college at the same time. If financing your
education is a problem, there are many programs available such as tuition
reimbursement and repayment programs at the state and federal level. Veterans
Affairs and Indian Health offer repayment programs. There
are many options available to nurses, such as full-time work,
part-time, PRN, agency, traveling to name a few. Positions may be offered,
Monday through Friday, weekends only, 8 hour shifts, 12 hour shifts, many
options are available. If you want to touch a person’s life, nursing is the
perfect choice.

inspiration with empower
I had not blogged for quite some time. Between
family, work and school and running ads for another company, it fell by the
side. Then last night, I listened to an Empower video!! That was so inspiring!
It finally came time to realize, that what I was doing was not working!! WOW!
It has not been working in many ways, actually. I believed what I had been
told, that an education leads to freedom. Well, guess what, I have a masters
degree. I had been out of college about 20 years and went back to college to
further my education. After 20 years, I went back and got my bachelors degree,
masters and now am a PhD candidate. And guess what, I am still working 12
hour shifts, missing my grandchildren ballgames, not able to take them on
vacations when I want. My entire life revolves around when the
hospital needs me to be there! Here is another harsh reality, I am not getting
any younger! So I will begin again, this time with a mission and a
purpose and a better understanding! Empower will give me the inspiration to
take another path!!
